About

T.rex Road Trip was born from a project to travel the US documenting dinosaur discoveries, using Tyrannosaurus rex as a gateway dinosaur. It was originally conceived as a two week trip planned for 2019, but evolved into a regular project online. The primary author, Jody, travels regularly for both work and pleasure, and this project leverages those travels to extend the road trip quite a bit beyond its original vision.

We’re in a period of unprecedented explosion in dinosaur discovery and understanding. T.rex Road Trip’s purpose is to explore the science and spectacle of Tyrannosaurus rex, other members of the Tyrannosauridae, and dinosaurs in general. We’re visiting museums where T.rex is displayed, talking to professionals in the industry, and talking about the various discoveries that have fueled the public’s interest in dinosaurs, and made this one of the most exciting times in the history of dinosaur science.
